Foods to avoid and why
During pregnancy you are not at a greater risk from food poisoning than any other time. However, during pregnancy on rare occasions food poisoning can damage your unborn baby.
|
Guidelines in brief
Follow our simple guide and reduce the risk of food poisoning during pregnancy. Foods to avoid:
• Mould ripened soft cheese - e.g. Brie, Camembert. As cheese can carry Listeria
• Pate - Again Listeria can be sometimes found in this product
• Raw / undercooked eggs - e.g. Mayo, soft boiled eggs. Each of this could carry Salmonella
• Raw shellfish - Raw shellfish can carry harmful bacteria and viruses.
If you're in any doubt about your diet contact your local GP.
This is only for informative reasons. For more details please contact a specialist.
